I wish it was as easy as saying enough is enough, but it never is. The horrific killings in Charleston remind us that racism destroys, and is an evil that festers over and over in our country. We enjoy so much diversity in Ft. Bend that it's hard to imagine such darkness. Charleston, and many other events, have awakened us to the need to repent and lead the way toward reconciliation. Any significant change starts in our hearts.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” (Ps 139:23) Immediate change happens first within each of us. Change starts with me, my perspective, my values and my understanding. I want all of God’s people to live together in harmony, learning from one another. It's time to say "enough is enough" in regards to hate based on skin color! I want to continue to root out all prejudice from my own heart first. I want God to forgive the darkness that lingers deep within so at least change can happen in me. Whatever change you’re hoping for, start with a deep look within.
